Romania e-Reporting extension provide taxable persons additional time to adapt

Deadline extension provides breathing room.

The Romanian Government has extended the deadline for e-reporting compliance until 31 May 2024. This decision is part of an emergency ordinance addressing provisions related to the RO e-invoice system.

According to the ordinance, non-compliance with the deadline for transmitting invoices in the national electronic invoice system, RO e-Factura, during a calendar month will be considered a contravention. However, fines for such non-compliance will not be imposed until the extended deadline of 31 May.

The extension aims to provide taxable persons additional time to adapt their procedures and systems for transmitting invoices in the RO e-Factura system without penalties. Fines for non-compliance after the extended deadline will range from 5,000 lei to 10,000 lei for large taxpayers, 2,500 lei to 5,000 lei for medium taxpayers, and 1,000 lei to 2,500 lei for other legal entities and individuals.

This extension offers relief for businesses navigating the transition to e-reporting in Romania. It allows for a smoother adjustment period and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
